Aspect: Narrow to three big goals
We find that our planners and our goals work best if we narrow down to three big things we would like to accomplish this year. This can be a big task, so before you touch your planner, just grab a blank sheet of paper and word vomit all of your dreams and goals. Write down anything and everything that comes to mind.
Once you have depleted your brain of all those hopes and dreams, read through them. Do any go together or have a similar idea at the core? Does anything seem outlandish or something you used to want, but you’re not so sure you still want that anymore? Do any of the goals steal joy, rather than give joy? Take a minute to narrow down the list to the things you want to see happen in 2020.
These three goals will be the core you will build your year around. Maybe one of them makes you apprehensive, that’s okay. We’re spending these next few days to break down your goals and set you up for success.
Once you’ve got your three goals, you’re done for today. Take a break. Go for a walk. Breath deeply. The heavy work starts tomorrow. (And by heavy work, we mean you’re going to commit and actually start working in your planner!)
